Tommy Thomson has served as the Franklin Park Village Clerk since 2009. He has increased the
efficiencies in the Clerk’s Office and made the office more responsive to our citizens.
He has worked closely with Mayor Pedersen to increase the transparency and accountability of
Village government.
Under Tommy’s leadership the Clerk’s Office has become a model of productivity and
efficiency. He has streamlined operations and reduced bureaucracy by making more information
available on-line. He has instilled a customer friendly atmosphere that treats all our citizens
respectfully.
Tommy continues to seek ways to make even more information and processes available online,
including information on purchasing and contracts.
Tommy served as a combat medic in the United States Army and followed in his father’s
footsteps to become a firefighter. He has been with the Franklin Park Fire Department for 14
years and is also a certified paramedic. In this capacity, he has consistently demonstrated a
strong commitment to his job and to serving the community. Last year, while driving down Rose
Street, he noticed smoke coming from a building. He forced entry into the building and rescued
a civilian from the burning apartment. For his heroic efforts, Tommy received the Medal of
Valor Award by the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshall for serving as an example of
someone who puts his life in danger to protect and save the lives of others. He enjoys helping
and serving the residents and businesses of Franklin Park and always has the safety of our
families and our neighborhoods as one of his highest priorities.
Tommy served as Trustee on the Franklin Park Library Board from 2001-2007 and was Treasurer for two
years. He is an active member of the American Legion Post 974 and donates his time to the St.
Baldrick’s Foundation to help raise funds to develop a cure for childhood cancers.
Tommy is a lifelong resident of Franklin Park, attended District 83 schools and is a graduate of
